It can be expensive. As an example - it costs approximately $425 to ship and insure a
$2000 30x40 painting to downtown Tokyo. Smaller paintings will be
somewhat less.
You may be responsible for customs or import duties in your country.
This varies tremendously country to country. The package
will be declared as original artwork at the full value of the painting
(not the total cost including shipping).
Most countries do not charge import taxes on art but some do, and it is
your responsibility to determine this before ordering. If there is
"duty" you will pay it directly to your own customs department.
Ship to a commercial address if possible (such
as an office or store). If a home address, you
must verify that UPS or FedEx will deliver foreign shipments to you there
and that you will be home to sign for them.
Always provide a local phone number.
Sometimes it is necessary to ship to a city large enough to have a
customs office, and you may have to pick up the package at the customs
office and pay
any duties. Any such fees are your responsibility. UPS or FedEx can
handle this in some countries. Usually this is
not a significant problem.
When you give us a shipping address we provide a shipping/handling
quote. We do not pay, nor refund, shipping and
handling charges to foreign destinations. Insurance for the sales
price of the artwork is included. Payment in full is
required prior to shipment. Returns are allowed.
The amount actually paid for the painting (not the shipping) will be
refunded if received in good condition in a reasonable amount of time.
Amounts paid for shipping/handling, either way, are not refunded.
Non-delivery:
If delivery is refused or not completed due to customs
duties not being paid, or no one being at the delivery address to sign,
or any other reason not the fault of the shipper, and
shipper returns painting to us as undeliverable, all additional costs will be deducted
from any refund due. If shipment never arrives, please
contact us immediately so that we can start a trace.
Damage in Shipment: If the crate appears to be damaged, do not
open. Contact the delivery service immediately.
If damage is found on opening, contact the delivery service immediately
and save the packaging. The painting is insured, but payment
will be tendered only if they can inspect the damage, including the
packaging, and take the merchandise. Please contact us
also as soon as possible.
Buyer's Remorse:
With the above costs excepted, undamaged artwork may be returned for full refund of the actual
painting price. You must pay return shipping and insurance so this may be somewhat
impractical for less expensive paintings. Returns must be timely made
(usually within 7 days of receipt)
with no damages and must be shipped with insurance and a tracking
number.
Contact us prior to return for a return
authorization and shipping address.
